Description
War film production, early 20th century. Film-makers and actors during production of a battle scene in an early silent film. This scene is from one of the films produced by Vitagraph Studios (founded 1897), possibly 'Britton of the Seventh' (1916), depicting Custer's Last Stand at the Battle of the Little Bighorn (1876). This photograph is from the Bain News Service, one of the USA's earliest news picture libraries. The bulk of the Bain images date from the 1890s to the 1930s.
