A vintage movie poster of ''The 27th Day'', a 1957 American science fiction film directed by William Asher and based on the 1956 novel of the same name by John Mantley. The movie combines elements of science fiction, thriller, and Cold War paranoia, and it stars Gene Barry, Valerie French, and George Voskovec in the lead roles.
The film's premise revolves around a hypothetical scenario in which five individuals from different parts of the world are suddenly given capsules by extraterrestrial beings. These capsules have the power to destroy all human life on Earth and are equipped with strict rules. Each capsule holder is entrusted with the ability to unleash the destruction, but they must adhere to the following conditions:
The capsules can only be used once.
They must select a specific location on Earth where the destruction will occur.
The capsules will become ineffective after 27 days.
The five capsule recipients, an American reporter (played by Gene Barry), a...
