Description
Film about human ancestors. Philippe Sonrier, the artistic director of the French film-documentary A Species Odyssey (2003), with models of the human ancestor species featured in the production. The film (directed by Jacques Malaterre) used models and computer-generated imagery (CGI) to trace the story of human evolution from Orrorin tugenensis (dated to about 6 million years ago) through the Australopithecines (including Australopithecus afarensis and Australopithecus anamensis) some 4.2 million years ago, to modern humans (Homo sapiens) from about 200,000 years ago. The models either side of Sonrier are A. anamensis (left) and 'Lucy' (A. afarensis). The blue dots are reference points for the computer modelling.
